ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 — Malaysia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening longstanding bilateral ties by expanding cross-border cooperation in security and law enforcement, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced today.

The announcement follows bilateral discussions between Saifuddin Nasution and Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, during the Home Minister’s two-day official visit to Islamabad.

In an official statement published on his social media channels, Saifuddin Nasution highlighted that the high-level talks focused on key operational areas, including police collaboration, intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism initiatives, drug enforcement, cross-border crime prevention, cybersecurity, immigration management, human trafficking countermeasures, prisoner management, and maritime enforcement.

“This visit is not only about strengthening the existing ties between Malaysia and Pakistan,” Saifuddin Nasution said. “It also allows us to broaden cooperation and share our experience in security and law enforcement, as increasingly complex security challenges require closer cooperation between countries. The meeting provides an opportunity to identify practical, high-impact areas of cooperation and turn them into clear follow-up actions.”

To ensure effective execution, both ministries agreed in principle to establish a dedicated joint working group to coordinate follow-up efforts and implement agreed-upon initiatives in a structured manner.

During the bilateral session, Saifuddin Nasution commended Pakistan’s active role in facilitating international dialogue aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. He also shared Malaysia’s diplomatic experience in facilitating negotiations regarding the Thailand-Cambodia border dispute.

On the first day of his official visit, Saifuddin Nasution was accorded an official guard of honour by the Federal Constabulary before laying a wreath and reciting Al-Fatihah at the Martyrs’ Memorial in honor of fallen security personnel. He subsequently visited the Islamabad Police Lines, where he attended a special parade and met with senior officers and personnel from the Islamabad Police.

Saifuddin Nasution expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government for its warm hospitality and conveyed official greetings from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
