KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — A 26-year-old local man was hospitalized with severe burns after a fire destroyed three squatter houses in Jalan Ismail Ghani, Kampung Kasipillay, Sentul, early this morning.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that an emergency call was logged at 1:15 am. Firefighting teams from the Sentul, Hang Tuah, and Gombak Selatan Fire and Rescue Stations were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival of the fire brigade at the location, the fire was found to involve three semi-permanent squatter houses with a total area of 4,872 square feet. The houses were 100 per cent destroyed,” Ahmad Mukhlis said in a statement today.
Ahmad Mukhlis confirmed that the victim sustained burns to his body and legs during the incident. He was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and admitted to the Red Zone for emergency medical care.
Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the JBPM Forensic Unit.
