JMR Secures Pro-Am Runner-Up Finish at Suzuka 1000 GT3

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) continued its podium success at the Suzuka 1000 GT3 endurance race, securing a runner-up finish in the Pro-Am category at Japan’s Suzuka Circuit on Sunday.

JMR owner and racer Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim, and Pro driver Ben Green delivered clean stints throughout the six-and-a-half-hour race to capture the Pro-Am podium spot. The result marks an improvement over the team’s third-place finish at the event last year.

Meanwhile, JMR’s Pro team lineup—comprising Scott McLaughlin, Nicky Catsburg, and Alexander Sims—fought hard to replicate their 2025 podium success, narrowly missing out on the rostrum to finish in fourth place.

Tunku Abdul Rahman expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, describing the second-place Pro-Am finish as a major achievement.

“Our Pro team was very close as well, but finished just off the podium. It’s not the result we wanted, but we’re here to learn, and I’m sure we’ll come back stronger in the future,” Tunku Abdul Rahman said in a statement. “Nonetheless, I’m very proud of everyone involved for making it all happen in 2026. It’s been a great year for us – we had a lot of new challenges and all the races have been tough, but we proved we can give it our all, no matter the situation.”

Tunku Abu Bakar also expressed delight at securing second place, describing the team’s improved performance as an incredible milestone coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the historic Suzuka 1000 race.
