KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) to take all necessary measures to assist Malaysians affected by the severe flooding in the Rasuwa district of Nepal.
In a statement released on the official Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page today, His Majesty directed that updated information regarding the safety and whereabouts of the affected citizens be conveyed to their respective families without delay.
“I have been following developments surrounding this tragedy since it was reported yesterday. I also urge Wisma Putra to take all necessary measures, including providing their family members with the latest information on the safety and whereabouts of the Malaysians involved,” His Majesty said.
The King also offered prayers for the smooth execution of search, rescue, and evacuation operations for all impacted Malaysians.
According to the post, Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, expressed their deep concern for the victims of the disaster, praying for their safety and that they be granted ease during the crisis.
Wisma Putra confirmed in a statement today that families have been unable to contact more than 50 Malaysian travellers in Nepal following Wednesday’s flash floods, which have left hundreds of foreign nationals and Nepalese residents unaccounted for.
