Schools In Selangor, Melaka, Pahang To Resume Operations Friday With Outdoor Activity Suspension

Schools Selangor Melaka Pahang operate haze outdoor activities suspended

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 – Educational institutions across Selangor, Melaka, and Pahang will operate as usual on Friday, October 23, 2026, though all co-curricular and outdoor activities remain suspended due to ongoing haze conditions.

State Education Departments (JPN) in the respective regions issued guidelines on Thursday, October 22, to manage student welfare and monitor ambient air quality levels.

State-Specific Guidelines and Precautionary Directives

Advisories issued by individual state education authorities include:

  • Selangor: The Selangor JPN advised students attending school to wear protective face masks. School administrators have been instructed to monitor Air Pollutant Index (API) readings continuously and pay close attention to high-risk students, particularly those with respiratory conditions.
  • Melaka: The Melaka JPN stated that parents or guardians concerned about their children’s health may choose to keep them home, provided the school authorities are notified. Parents, staff, and guardians are advised to rely on official JPN and school communications for verified updates.
  • Pahang: All schools in the Bentong district will resume normal operations on Friday with outdoor activities suspended until further notice. School personnel in Bentong are strongly encouraged to wear face masks, while schools in other Pahang districts will continue normal operations.

Local health and education authorities will continue to assess API conditions daily to determine if additional measures or temporary closures are necessary.
