KUANTAN, Aug 18 — The Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) has approved nearly RM190 million in financing for Bumiputera businesses across Pahang, Kelantan, and Terengganu as of early August, reinforcing its long-term strategy to expand capital access and accelerate sustainable economic growth in the East Coast region.
TERAJU Chief Executive Officer Junady Nawawi emphasized that the financial backing reflects the agency’s ongoing commitment to building high-capacity local enterprises capable of competing at higher market tiers.
“Our goal is to ensure Bumiputera companies evolve into investable enterprises, are ready to secure financing and possess the capability to move to the next level, including exploring the capital market and listing on Bursa Malaysia,” Junady said in a statement.
Junady delivered the remarks during the TERAJU Aspirasi Outreach Pahang 2026 programme held at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) in Gambang, which convened nearly 70 government agencies, higher education institutions, and industry representatives.
The outreach initiative, themed “Realising the Scaling of Bumiputera Companies’ Value Creation,” was officiated by Pahang FELDA Affairs, Cooperatives, and Entrepreneurship Committee Chairman Datuk Amizar Abu Adam. Also in attendance were Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shahar Abdullah and UMPSA Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Strategic) Prof Dr Che Ku Mohammad Faizal Che Ku Yahya.
Highlighting the importance of localized intervention, Junady noted that targeted outreach brings institutional support directly to regional business ecosystems.
“Through programmes like this, we bring the ecosystem directly to entrepreneurs so they can make decisions and seize growth opportunities more swiftly and effectively,” he explained. “This is how we ensure the true value of the Bumiputera agenda continues to reach the grassroots and creates a long-term impact on businesses and local communities.”
The event centered on the scaling phase of Bumiputera enterprises by focusing on strengthening core business foundations, expanding market footprint, building organizational capacity, and improving structural efficiency.
To provide direct assistance, the programme featured targeted agency matching sessions with key synergy partners, including Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB), and the Pahang State Development Corporation (PKNP).
TERAJU noted that this collaborative model aligns with the national strategic direction under the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) and the MADANI Economy framework, aimed at bolstering the overall competitiveness and value-creation capacity of Bumiputera businesses across the East Coast.
