JOHOR BAHRU, July 7 — Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for the Puteri Wangsa state constituency, Dr Maszlee Malik, expressed optimism that high-level political dialogues will serve as a vital catalyst for cultivating a more rational and mature political culture across the nation.
Reflecting on his participation in a major broadcast debate today, Maszlee praised the initiative as an essential public education platform. He noted that such open discussions are designed to guide the electorate toward making logical, merit-based decisions at the ballot box rather than relying on hyper-emotional narratives.
“We want to cultivate a culture of dialogue and political debate to help mature the electorate and encourage voters to make their choices based on arguments, facts and evidence, instead of mere sentiment and emotion,” Maszlee told reporters following the conclusion of the Johor State Election Dialogue.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil was also in attendance at the broadcast venue.
With only three days remaining before the campaign window officially closes, the former education minister revealed that the PH election machinery is heavily pivoting its resources toward maximizing voter turnout. A primary objective of this final push involves engaging out-of-town voters and coordinating logistics to encourage them to return to their home constituencies to cast their ballots.
Maszlee emphasized that securing a high voter turnout is critically tied to democratic legitimacy, arguing that a robust showing at the polls ensures the incoming administration holds an indisputable mandate from the public.
“The higher the turnout, the better, as it reflects the people’s true mandate and will,” he stated.
The collaborative media event was jointly organized by national broadcasters RTM, Astro AWANI, and Sinar Harian, and hosted at the Permata Sari Auditorium inside the Johor State Broadcasting Department complex.
The political stakes remain exceptionally high as the state transition nears its final phase. Early voting protocols for the Johor state election concluded across various service centers today, paving the way for the general electorate to cast their decisive ballots on polling day this July 11.ay, while polling day is on July 11.
