Former HR Minister M. Saravanan Arrives at Court to Face MACC Corruption Charges

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Former Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex this morning to face charges under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

Saravanan, 58, arrived at 8:26 am accompanied by his officers. Members of the media and supporters of the Tapah Member of Parliament had gathered at the court complex grounds as early as 7:45 am to follow developments in the case.

He is expected to face charges relating to quotas for the recruitment of foreign workers under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009, which pertains to soliciting, receiving, giving, promising, or offering bribes.

According to court records, the case against the former minister is scheduled for mention before Sessions Court Judge Azura Alwi at 9:00 am today.
