ALOR GAJAH, Sept 20 — A 31-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were found dead inside a car in Taman Inang Sari, Durian Tunggal, near midnight last night.

Alor Gajah District Police Chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar stated that a police team dispatched to the scene discovered the deceased duo at approximately 12:05 am following a tip-off from members of the public. Preliminary examinations of the bodies revealed no initial elements of foul play, robbery, or signs of a physical struggle.

“Before the missing person case could be opened, we received information from members of the public about the discovery of the bodies. Initial checks found that the woman was the individual reported missing, while the man was believed to be her acquaintance,” Ahmad told reporters.

Ahmad explained that police had earlier received a missing person report lodged by the woman’s mother on Sept 17 after she could not be located. Her employer subsequently confirmed to police that she had failed to report for work for the past three days.

Based on the condition of the bodies, which had already begun to swell, police believe both victims died approximately three days prior to their discovery. Both individuals were residents of Melaka, with the woman confirmed to be single.

The bodies of both victims have been transferred to the Forensic Unit for post-mortem examinations to establish the exact cause of death, and police have currently classified the case as a sudden death.
