FBM KLCI Surges Over 19 Points As BNM Holds OPR At 2.75 Per Cent

Bursa Malaysia close FBM KLCI BNM OPR 2.75 per cent

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 – Bursa Malaysia closed significantly higher on Thursday, November 5, 2026, buoyed by Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) decision to maintain the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at 2.75 per cent, coupled with positive overnight performance on Wall Street.

At 5:00 PM, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) advanced 19.30 points, or 1.19 per cent, to close at 1,635.86 compared to Wednesday’s close of 1,616.56.

The benchmark index opened 6.72 points higher at 1,623.28 and fluctuated within a 19.82-point intraday range, touching a high of 1,642.44 and a low of 1,622.62.

Despite the strong rally in the benchmark index, overall market breadth turned negative at the close, with decliners outnumbering gainers 723 to 497. A total of 466 counters traded unchanged, 1,075 remained untraded, and 10 were suspended.

Total market turnover expanded significantly to 3.74 billion units valued at RM3.61 billion, compared to 2.81 billion units worth RM2.57 billion on Wednesday.
