State Political Realignments Possible as Landscape Varies, Says Fahmi Fadzil

KUALA PILAH, Sept 20 — Current political dynamics across Malaysia could result in various state-level political realignments, taking into consideration the unique political landscape of each individual state, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Communications Director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today.

Speaking to reporters after officiating the Communications Ministry’s Kampung Angkat MADANI 2025 initiative at Surau Kampung Tebat Kering, Fahmi emphasized that recent political developments cannot be assessed through a uniform lens.

“We know that each state has its own political uniqueness. So, it is not impossible that such dynamics could also emerge within Pakatan Harapan (PH),” Fahmi said.

The launching ceremony was attended by senior ministry officials and local administrators, including Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, Kuala Pilah District Council President Nawal Mohamed Amin, and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Deputy Editor-in-Chief Mohd Shukri Ishak.

Addressing the recent conditional pardon granted to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Fahmi reaffirmed that the decision falls strictly under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution and rests within the constitutional powers of the King. He noted that PH, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh—who represents the government on the Pardons Board—have all previously issued official statements clarifying the administration’s stance.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted the conditional pardon on Friday, allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to the payment of a RM50 million fine.
