KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has pledged that the MADANI Government will thoroughly and uncompromisingly investigate every finding and recommendation in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), following a royal decree by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
Writing in an official Facebook post today, Anwar stated that the government’s swift response reflects its steadfast dedication to restoring institutional integrity and upholding the rule of law.
The Prime Minister held an audience lasting over an hour with Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku earlier today, during which he briefed the King on high-priority national issues, including the TH RCI report and ongoing reviews into the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA).
“I humbly thank His Majesty for granting me an audience to brief him on several important developments concerning the country’s interests and the wellbeing of the people. His Majesty’s order for a thorough investigation into the RCI report reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring that every recommendation and finding is fully investigated without compromise,” Anwar said.
Highlighting the gravity of the pilgrimage fund’s mandate, Anwar—who also serves as Finance Minister—emphasized that TH manages a sacred trust built from the hard-earned life savings of millions of ordinary Malaysians, including farmers, civil servants, and low- to middle-income families who sacrifice for years to fulfill their haj pilgrimage.
“There could be no betrayal of such a significant trust, and those found to have misused it must be held accountable under the law,” he declared.
The long-awaited TH RCI report, officially published on July 29, uncovered significant governance, financial, and operational shortcomings in the institution’s administration between 2014 and 2020.
Beyond the pilgrimage fund, Anwar informed the King on progress regarding FELDA, confirming that the Federal Government is currently evaluating a report compiled by a special task force to decide on necessary legal and policy measures.
Reiterating the core tenets of the administration, the Prime Minister affirmed that the MADANI Government will remain uncompromising on matters of governance, transparency, and public integrity. He warned that no individual who betrays public trust will escape accountability, regardless of status or political stature.
Anwar added that the administration is simultaneously reinforcing security protocols across all national entry points by ramping up active enforcement, continuous surveillance, and inter-agency coordination to combat transnational crime and safeguard Malaysia’s territorial sovereignty.
“Insya-Allah, I and the entire government will remain committed to His Majesty’s decree to strengthen governance, enforcement and national security, while ensuring the wellbeing of the people,” Anwar concluded.
