Putrajaya — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has agreed to immediately restore its online vehicle ownership transfer (THM) transaction service, following public concerns over sudden service disruptions. Moving forward, any temporary suspensions required for system enhancements will be restricted exclusively to the upcoming long holiday weekend.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed that the directive was issued following urgent discussions with JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, after media reports emerged last night regarding the unexpected halting of the service.
According to Loke, the suspension was initially triggered by security vulnerabilities.
“JPJ informed the ministry regarding instances of abuse and fraud involving the ownership transfer system, which subsequently resulted in liabilities that had to be borne by the department. Because of this, JPJ needed to implement improvements to the online system as soon as possible,” Loke explained in a Facebook post today.
While acknowledging the necessity of security updates, Loke emphasized that public convenience must remain a priority. He advised the department to schedule maintenance works in a manner that avoids disrupting the daily affairs of ordinary users or causing severe congestion at physical JPJ branches.
The decision comes after previous announcements stated that all online vehicle ownership transfers had been temporarily frozen across all digital platforms effective today. The suspension had heavily affected public portals, kiosks, and key business partners including MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd, raising immediate concern among automotive dealers and buyers nationwide.
