VLADIVOSTOK, Sept 5 – Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia and Russia should consider introducing direct flights to increase tourism between the two countries.
Explaining that Malaysia is a friendly country and not ruled by any power, Anwar said that Russian tourists should visit Malaysia, a rich and friendly country where food can be useful. “We are a country full of culture, with diverse cities, forests, rivers and an equatorial climate. If you go there, you will see that Malaysia is really Asia,” he said during the question and answer session of the 9th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held today here, alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
Earlier in his exit press conference with Malaysian media, Anwar said that Malaysia welcomed more than 100,000 tourists from Russia last year, and there is an opportunity to increase the number of Russian tourists with more air connections.
Currently, only flights from China are available to connect these two countries.
