KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather alert for six states, warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds effective until 3:00 pm today.
In a statement released earlier, the department identified several districts across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak that are expected to be impacted. In the Peninsula, the advisory covers the Kuala Muda district in Kedah; the Southwest, Northeast, and Seberang Perai Utara districts in Penang; Seremban, Port Dickson, and Rembau in Negeri Sembilan; and the entirety of Melaka.
The warning also extends to Sarawak, specifically impacting Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, and Sri Aman. In Sabah, residents in the Sandakan division—namely Telupid, Beluran, and Sandakan—as well as the Kudat division, comprising Pitas and Kudat, are advised to remain vigilant.
