TEXAS, July 15 — A football masterclass saw Spain beats France with a clinical 2-0 victory at the Dallas Stadium on Tuesday, successfully booking their place in the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

The triumphant campaign for ‘La Roja’ was sealed through a first-half penalty conversion by Mikel Oyarzabal, followed by a brilliant second-half strike from Pedro Porro. Under the tactical guidance of head coach Luis de la Fuente, the reigning European champions dictated the flow of the game with fluid possession, patient passing, and an impenetrable defensive line. The victory pulls the 2010 world champions to within a single win of securing their second global title.

France, who lifted the trophy in 1998 and 2018, struggled to dangerous effect throughout the semi-final showdown. The Spanish backline completely neutralized the threat of the French frontline, keeping star attackers Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and Bradley Barcola entirely quiet for the vast majority of the match.

The opening blow landed in the 22nd minute when French left-back Lucas Digne brought down the surging Lamine Yamal inside the 18-yard box, prompting the referee to point to the spot. Oyarzabal stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, beating Mike Maignan despite the goalkeeper diving the right way.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for Les Bleus just eight minutes later when primary center-back William Saliba was forced off through injury and replaced by Maxence Lacroix. The sudden defensive adjustment allowed Spain to continue executing their game plan effectively, moving the ball with confidence while France struggled to gain a foothold in the match as their attacking trio found little space to operate.

Spain further cemented their dominance in the 58th minute following a beautiful sequence of team play. Right-back Porro pounced on Dani Olmo’s clever first touch before calmly steering the ball past the advancing Maignan to double Spain’s advantage.

Yamal believed he had put the match entirely out of reach just four minutes later after leaving Digne in his wake, cutting inward to launch a spectacular curling shot into the top corner. However, the goal was subsequently chalked off following a VAR review for offside. France attempted a late offensive surge in the dying embers of the game, but they proved utterly unable to breach Spain’s well-organised defence as La Roja comfortably saw out the remainder of the contest to secure another clean sheet and a place in the final.

Despite exit heartbreak, France manager Didier Deschamps managed to carve out a unique piece of footballing history during the clash. The tactician officially celebrated taking charge of his 26th match in the tournament, the most by any manager. Spain now turns its full attention to Sunday’s ultimate showdown, where they will square off against either England or defending champions Argentina.
