KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 – No areas across Malaysia recorded “very unhealthy” or “hazardous” Air Pollutant Index (API) levels as of 9:00 am on Sunday, though six areas—primarily in Sarawak—continue to register air quality in the “unhealthy” range.
According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Serian in Sarawak logged the highest API reading nationwide at 185, followed by Sri Aman at 174, Samarahan at 156, Kuching at 156, and Sibu at 109. In Peninsular Malaysia, Johan Setia in Selangor was the sole station to record an unhealthy level with a reading of 120.
Across the rest of the country, air quality remained predominantly stable, with 54 locations recording readings in the “moderate” category and eight areas enjoying “good” air quality.
Under the national air quality rating system, API readings between 0 and 50 signify good air quality, 51 to 100 indicate moderate conditions, 101 to 200 are classified as unhealthy, 201 to 300 indicate very unhealthy levels, and readings of 301 and above represent hazardous conditions.
