BUKIT MERTAJAM, July 25 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident the Cabinet will approve a proposal to publicly release the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) when it is tabled for consideration this Wednesday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Training Week (NTW) 2026 finale at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Permatang Pauh today, Anwar stressed that while he personally supports making the findings public, proper institutional procedures must be observed.
“People have asked why the RCI report on TH has not been made public. I have no objection and I agree that it should be released, but it must follow the proper process. I will table the matter to the Cabinet on Wednesday, and I believe the Cabinet will agree,” Anwar stated.
The Prime Minister explained that the report’s disclosure was previously postponed to allow the pilgrimage fund management sufficient time to implement crucial operational and governance reforms.
“We previously deferred the report because Tabung Haji said it needed time to make improvements,” Anwar said.
“There is now a new management team in place to carry out those reforms, and we are ready to make the report public,” he added.
The event was also attended by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
