Over 82,000 Candidates Offered Public University Places for Bachelor’s Degree Studies

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 14 — A total of 82,092 candidates have successfully secured places to pursue bachelor’s degree programmes across 20 public universities nationwide for this academic session, the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) announced today.

The ministry stated that the successful offers represent 76.10 per cent of the 107,875 eligible applicants who submitted applications for undergraduate studies through the central UPUOnline portal.

Across all participating public universities, a total of 1,146 bachelor’s degree programmes were offered for this intake.

Reaffirming its selection policy, KPT emphasized that admissions were strictly based on the principle of meritocracy, with eligible applicants systematically ranked according to their merit scores from highest to lowest.

“The ministry extends its best wishes to all successful candidates and hopes that the opportunity to continue their studies at the higher education level will be utilised to the fullest,” KPT said in a statement.

For applicants who did not receive an offer in the initial selection round, KPT has opened a second chance through an online appeal process on the UPUOnline system.

Unsuccessful candidates may submit their appeals within a 10-day window, starting from 12.00 pm today (Aug 14) until 5.00 pm on Aug 23, 2026
