MELAKA, Oct 28 – The Ithbat Quran and Fardu Ain Classes Pre-Tahfiz Programme (IKP), launched as a pilot initiative across four religious primary schools in Melaka, will be expanded to the Federal Territories.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan announced the expansion during the official program ceremony at Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) JAIM Tanjung Minyak 2 in Melaka on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

The decision follows outstanding academic results achieved by the pilot cohort in Melaka, where all 80 participating primary school pupils achieved top-tier assessment scores.

“The success of the pilot project in Melaka, where all 80 participating pupils achieved excellent results, demonstrates the programme’s potential for expansion to other areas,” Dr Zulkifli stated.

Initially introduced in 2020 to meet high parental demand for early childhood Quranic memorisation within standard Fardu Ain (KAFA) schooling, student assessments for Year Three through Year Six pupils began in 2025, with official results released on Wednesday.

Dr Zulkifli added that the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) stands ready to collaborate with state religious authorities interested in implementing the pre-tahfiz curriculum nationwide.
