Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat
KOTA BHARU, Oct 20 – The Kelantan Police Contingent’s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) recorded 330 complaints in 2026, marking a notable increase from the 224 cases logged in 2025, according to Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat.
Addressing the contingent’s monthly assembly at the Kelantan Police Headquarters (IPK) in Kota Bharu on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Mohd Yusoff stated that the spike should serve as an urgent wake-up call for officers to uphold strict discipline and professional ethics.
“These figures should serve as a reminder that compliance with regulations, discipline and integrity must never be taken lightly,” Mohd Yusoff emphasized, noting that while rank confers authority, credibility is defined by personal dignity and accountability.
In addition to internal discipline, the state police chief highlighted police interventions in school bullying, confirming that six investigation papers have been opened regarding bullying cases in Kelantan.
JIPS Metrics and Student Safety Directives
Key statistical data and community policing directives outlined during the assembly include:
- Disciplinary Investigation Metrics: JIPS opened 75 disciplinary investigation papers in 2026, matching the 75 recorded in 2025, while formal disciplinary inquiry papers dropped from 24 cases in 2025 to 11 in 2026.
- School Bullying Investigation Status: Out of six opened investigation papers on student bullying, one case has been charged in court, three remain under active investigation, and two were classified as No Further Action (NFA).
- National Context on School Violence: Highlighting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s October 6 announcement that 5,681 school bullying cases occurred nationwide between January and August 2026, Mohd Yusoff cited recent youth fatalities—including Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril in Negeri Sembilan and Irene Sofiya in Johor—as critical warnings against neglecting student safety.
- School Liaison Deployment: All district police chiefs and school liaison officers across Kelantan have been instructed to heighten collaboration with school administrations, parent groups, and community leaders to proactively curb youth violence.
Mohd Yusoff urged officers to investigate all youth complaints immediately and professionally to ensure schools remain safe learning environments.
