FAM Executive Committee member Datuk Syed Mahadi Syed Hassan.
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has identified two major local companies as strategic sponsors and expects to sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with both entities shortly, according to FAM Executive Committee member Datuk Syed Mahadi Syed Hassan.
Speaking at an appreciation gathering with media practitioners in Kuala Lumpur on Monday evening, Syed Mahadi—who chairs the FAM Media and Marketing Committee—confirmed that both corporate entities have pledged their financial commitment, with administrative teams currently finalizing contract details.
“In the near future, we will have new sponsors that we have identified, sponsors who have already given their commitment. Insya-Allah, we will sign MoUs with the new sponsors soon,” Syed Mahadi stated, withholding corporate identities until the formal signing ceremony.
He clarified that the upcoming sponsorship packages will directly benefit both FAM’s administrative operations and the Harimau Malaya national football squad. Addressing speculation regarding sponsor departures, Syed Mahadi noted that he had received no official notifications confirming any sponsor withdrawals.
Operational Integration and Strategic Media Partnership
Key administrative reforms and strategic directives outlined by FAM leadership include:
- Eliminating Silo Operations: FAM is integrating its media, marketing, communications, digital, and commercial departments into a unified operational division to enhance institutional efficiency and brand consistency.
- Integrated Marketing Approach: A structured administrative approach aims to boost fan engagement and elevate the public profile of national football.
- Media as Strategic Partners: FAM views news organizations as critical allies in shaping constructive public perception, building stakeholder confidence, and elevating the Malaysian football brand.
- Openness to Constructive Feedback: The association welcomed ongoing feedback, structural critiques, and suggestions from sports journalists to address administrative gaps.
- Leadership Background: Syed Mahadi, Chief Executive Officer of Star City, was elected to the FAM Executive Committee for the remainder of the 2025–2029 term during the Second 2026 FAM Extraordinary Congress in September before being appointed to head the Media and Marketing portfolio.
FAM management emphasized that cross-departmental collaboration remains vital to restoring public confidence and driving commercial growth for the national squad.
