KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 – The artificial intelligence (AI)-based coding platform ILMUcode will be expanded across additional private and public higher education institutions (IPTs) to enhance teaching, learning, and research capabilities, announced Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
Developed by YTL AI Labs, the platform’s broader rollout aims to equip students with critical digital skill sets and foster innovation from the beginning of their academic journeys.
The initiative launched as a pilot program at Universiti Malaya (UM), where YTL AI Labs provided free access to nearly 800 incoming students within the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.
“University and industry collaborations such as this are important to prepare talent capable of creating technology and solving real-world problems,” Zambry stated in a social media update following the platform’s official launch.
Expanding AI Capabilities in Higher Education
ILMUcode represents the first AI-driven coding platform implemented at UM, designed to offer developers and students access to advanced coding environments at reduced cost barriers.
Zambry emphasized that the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence offers expansive opportunities for students to convert theoretical concepts into functional applications that address societal needs. He encouraged students to experiment boldly, master emerging technologies responsibly, and ensure that their technical innovations generate positive community impacts.
