PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 — A former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and a former secretary-general of the Treasury arrived at the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand proceedings linked to the ongoing investigation into the pilgrimage fund’s Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report.
Both men, aged in their 60s, arrived at the court complex at 9:31 am wearing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) orange lockup attire. A former TH chief executive officer, who was previously remanded on Aug 21, was also present at the court.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed yesterday that the two former senior officials were detained at 4:00 pm after turning themselves in at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist with investigations.
The remand proceedings follow key revelations from the TH RCI report, which was made public on July 29.
The report documented extensive operational and administrative shortcomings within the institution between 2014 and 2020, while identifying several high-risk investments requiring a forensic audit.
Furthermore, the report highlighted evidence pointing to suspicious transactions and the deliberate concealment of financial information.
