KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — A former minister remanded to assist in ongoing investigations linked to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has been released today upon the expiration of his remand order.
According to sources, the suspect, a man in his 60s, completed a seven-day remand period before being released on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the release when contacted, noting that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009, which covers offences related to soliciting or receiving gratification.
The former minister is among 11 individuals remanded by anti-graft investigators to facilitate probes into governance and operational issues raised in the TH RCI report. Other individuals remanded in connection with the case include a former TH chairman, a former chief executive officer, several senior management executives, and corporate representatives linked to related companies.
