Fast-Food Restaurant Manager Fatally Struck By Car Near Ajil Mosque

KUALA BERANG, Oct 9 – A 45-year-old KFC fast-food restaurant manager was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the road at Kilometre 31 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Bukit Besi near Ajil Mosque on Thursday night.

Hulu Terengganu District Police Chief Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab confirmed that the victim, identified as Nor Haizura Mamat Sidek, died at the scene from severe head injuries suffered during the impact.

Emergency services dispatched to the location pronounced the pedestrian dead at approximately 8:15 PM on October 8, 2026.

Incident Circumstances and Police Investigation

Initial investigations by traffic police revealed several environmental and road factors at the crash site:

  • Collision Details: A Proton Saga driven by a 24-year-old man, accompanied by a 22-year-old female passenger, was traveling from Kuala Terengganu toward Kuala Berang when it struck the victim as she crossed the road from left to right.
  • Occupants Unhurt: Neither the driver nor the female passenger sustained injuries in the collision.
  • Hazardous Road Conditions: The crash occurred along a two-lane straight stretch experiencing heavy traffic, where the road surface was wet following recent rainfall.
  • Poor Visibility: Visibility was severely limited due to nighttime dark conditions and an absence of working streetlights in the immediate area.
  • Hospital Transfer & Statutory Probe: The victim’s body was transferred to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination, while police investigate the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
