KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Eleven areas across Malaysia recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 11 am today, according to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
In Sarawak, three monitoring stations registered unhealthy air quality levels, led by Sri Aman and Serian, which both recorded an API reading of 174, while Kuching logged a reading of 135.
Eight locations in Peninsular Malaysia also reported unhealthy air conditions. Johan Setia in Selangor registered the highest reading nationwide at 158, followed closely by Cheras in Kuala Lumpur at 153.
Other affected areas in the peninsula include Nilai (152) and Seremban (147) in Negeri Sembilan, Pasir Gudang (145) and Larkin (136) in Johor, Putrajaya (134), and Alor Gajah in Melaka (115).
Nationwide, 55 monitoring stations recorded moderate API readings, while only two areas maintained good air quality. Under standard air quality indicators, an API reading of 0 to 50 denotes good air quality; 51 to 100 moderate; 101 to 200 unhealthy; 201 to 300 very unhealthy; and 301 and above hazardous.
