PUTRAJAYA, Sept 20 — The Ministry of Education (MOE) will submit a proposal to review the existing ownership structure of tuition centres for Cabinet consideration next week.
In a statement issued today, the ministry noted that the current provisions governing tuition centre ownership are detailed in the Private Educational Institutions Policy Book, which was published in 2006. MOE emphasized its willingness to engage with public feedback regarding the regulatory framework.
“MOE takes note of the various views raised regarding the provisions and is always open to hearing the views of all parties,” the ministry stated. “MOE believes that the education sector should remain open to all parties who wish to contribute to the development and learning of children in Malaysia.”
The ministry expressed its appreciation for the longstanding contributions of tuition centre operators in supporting student academic progress, adding that it will continue working alongside all education stakeholders to serve the best interests of Malaysian students.
