KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed today that the federal government will extend full support and cooperation to the newly elected Negeri Sembilan state administration to ensure ongoing prosperity and development for the state and its people.
Posting on his official Facebook page, Anwar—who serves as Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman—congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) on securing the people’s mandate in today’s state election.
“I would also like to express my appreciation to the people of Negeri Sembilan for placing their trust in PH and Datuk Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun as Menteri Besar over the past eight years.
“Alhamdulillah, throughout that period, PH has left behind a legacy of excellent governance founded on good governance, stability and development that benefited the people,” Anwar wrote.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the administrative groundwork established during PH’s tenure would continue to be strengthened under the new leadership for the state’s future progress.
Anwar’s statement followed an earlier announcement by BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirming that BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) will join forces to form the state government after achieving a combined two-thirds majority in the election.
According to unofficial tallies, BN captured 18 state assembly seats while PN won seven, granting the strategic alignment 25 seats in the 36-seat Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly.
