PH Leaders Take Collective Responsibility for Defeat in Negeri Sembilan Election, Says Amirudin

SEREMBAN, Aug 1 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership and grassroots members will take collective responsibility for the coalition’s defeat in the Negeri Sembilan state election, PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced tonight.

Speaking at the PH command center, Amirudin stressed that the leadership would shoulder the responsibility together and avoided assigning blame to any individuals, communities, or factions within the organization.

“As the leaders of Pakatan Harapan, we all take collective responsibility. It is not about pointing fingers at any person, group, community or any clique,” Amirudin said.

“We will take responsibility collectively, from the top leadership to the grassroots of the organisation,” he added.

According to unofficial election tallies, PH secured 11 out of the 36 seats contested across the state. Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) captured 18 seats, and Perikatan Nasional (PN) won seven seats.

Amirudin called for a strategic pivot moving forward, urging Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the party leadership to refine their overarching political messaging.

“I hope the Prime Minister and our team can realign our political message to make sure we go back to focus on values, performance, data and the government’s service to the people,” he stated.

He added that PH would immediately shift its focus toward preparations for the upcoming Melaka state election.

Amirudin expressed gratitude to Negeri Sembilan voters for exercising their democratic rights, while extending thanks to the Election Commission (EC), security personnel, media organizations, volunteers, and election workers for ensuring a smooth polling process.

He reaffirmed that despite the electoral outcome, elected PH representatives will continue engaging with local communities and serving their respective constituencies through value-driven politics and effective service delivery.

A total of 103 candidates contested across the 36 state assembly seats in today’s election. During the previous state election in 2023, PH won 17 seats, followed by BN with 14 seats and PN with five seats.
