Kuala Lumpur 4 March – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the political secretary of former minister Xavier Jayakumar, according to online portal MalaysiaNow.
Citing sources familiar with the ongoing investigations on dealings linked to the water, land, and natural resources ministry which Xavier previously headed, it was reported that Fazly Razally was remanded over a corruption probe linked to sand-mining contracts.

This new arrest comes more than a week after MACC released MA Tinagaran, described as Xavier’s close family friend, in a statement denying Tinagaran was an aide.
Tinagaran was arrested along with two company directors in an anti-graft operation where approximately RM1.2 million in cash and a luxury car were said to have been confiscated.
MACC also froze individual and company bank accounts worth some RM77 million.
Earlier, MACC chief Azam Baki said the agency is also investigating Xavier.
