KUALA LUMPUR, December 16 – Muhammed Yusoff Rawther is prepared to take a polygraph test over his sexual assault allegation against PKR President Anwar Ibrahim.
His lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla said his client is willing and ready to take the test any time, date and venue should the police call for it.
This was in order to assist police to conduct a fair, through and just investigation; according to the lawyer.
“He is nevertheless prepared to fully cooperate with the police to assist them in completing their investigation in a fair and conclusive manner.
“He is also aware that as in the case of other forensic tests, there is no special legal provision for the court to admit such a polygraph evidence but he believes that such a technology needs to be utilised in the investigation process to back his allegation,” he said in a statement today.
Police considering using polygraph test
According to reports, polygraph test was among the approaches to be considered by police in their probe into the allegations by Yusoff against Anwar.
Yusoff gave his statement to Bukit Aman on Dec 9 and 10. Anwar gave his statement on Dec 12 on the sexual misconduct allegations followed by accompanying the police to his house in Bukit Segambut on the same day.
Yusoff had made a press conference earlier this month, and a statutory declaration was released via social media alleging that he was sexually assaulted by Anwar on Oct 2, 2018.
Anwar has strongly denied the sexual misconduct allegation, calling it a baseless slander and a ploy to tarnish his image ahead the power transition process.
