Kuda Merah Muaythai Challenge 2026 Draws 28 Professional Fighters Across 14 Title Bouts

SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 – A total of 28 local and international professional fighters will compete in the Kuda Merah International Muaythai Challenge 2026 Super Championship, held at Stadium Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur on September 26 and 27.

Kuala Lumpur Kuda Merah Club President Rosli Yaacob stated that participants were selected based on their performance records in previous tournaments to ensure highly competitive bouts.

“All the participants are scheduled to compete in 14 bouts for 14 exclusive championship belts, fully sponsored by corporate and strategic sponsors from within the country, including Sinar Harian, Nutrigold, SimplySiti, (Titiwangsa MP) Datuk Seri Johari Ghani, and Emas Sri Semantan.

“The tournament is expected to be highly competitive as some of the bouts are rematches, with the losers challenging the winners from previous editions again, in addition to the participation of new fighters from overseas,” Rosli said during a press conference at the Karangkraf Building on Friday.

Rosli confirmed that the lineup features three international fighters—one each from Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Myanmar—with the remainder consisting of local combatants representing registered clubs nationwide.

He noted that the professional competition format will maintain conventional standards, utilizing three-round scoring systems and standard gloves.

Commenting on the growth of Muaythai, Rosli highlighted that participation has surged in recent years, particularly among youth and teenagers at the grassroots level.

“The overwhelming response from those aged between 15 and 30 shows that this martial art is increasingly gaining popularity among people from all walks of life,” he said, adding that previous amateur events recorded over 500 male and female entries, forcing organizers to turn away additional registrants.

The Kuda Merah International Muaythai Challenge 2026 Super Championship will run from 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM on both nights, with tickets priced at RM25.
