KBS Grants Conditional Approval For HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 Following Alcohol Sponsor Withdrawal

HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 KBS conditional approval Taufiq Johari

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 6  – The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has granted conditional approval for the upcoming HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 mass fitness event, scheduled to take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from December 10 to 13, 2026.

Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari announced in a statement on Friday, November 6, 2026, that the conditional permit was issued under Section 33 of the Sports Development Act 1997. The approval is contingent upon strict adherence to the Safe Sport Code and all administrative directives issued by the Office of the Sports Commissioner.

“The organisers of HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 have agreed to observe all the requirements under Clause 5.2 of the Safe Sport Code,” Dr. Mohammed Taufiq confirmed. “The ministry will oversee compliance with the stipulated conditions throughout the event and wishes all participants the best of luck.”

The conditional endorsement follows earlier regulatory warnings from the ministry that permit approval would be withheld unless all sponsorships associated with alcoholic beverage companies were completely revoked. Concerns surfaced after promotional materials circulating on social media named an alcohol brand as the event’s “Official Beer Partner”.

Dr. Mohammed Taufiq noted that mass fitness events remain beneficial for national health and active lifestyle promotion once regulatory and cultural guidelines are strictly respected.
