PARIT, Sept 25 – Two male students from a local tahfiz school were charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday with causing injury to another student using a clothing iron.
The accused, aged 13 and 14, pleaded not guilty to the joint charge after it was read before Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai.
According to the charge sheet, the duo, acting in furtherance of a common intention, voluntarily caused injury to a 13-year-old schoolmate using an iron—an instrument likely to cause death—at a tahfiz school in Parit at 4:00 PM on Sept 19.
The offense was framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read alongside Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, whipping, or any combination of two such punishments upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor R. Jayasri prosecuted the case, while both accused were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) counsel Nur Nadrah Badarudin.
Magistrate Nurul Izalina granted bail at RM500 in one surety for each accused and scheduled Oct 27 for mention of the case.
