PUTRAJAYA, Nov 4  – The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) will not approve the upcoming HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 fitness competition unless sponsorship from an alcoholic beverage brand is completely withdrawn, the ministry confirmed on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

The event, currently scheduled to take place at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from December 10 to 13, 2026, remains unapproved as organizers process regulatory paperwork.

Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari issued a formal statement clarifying that approval is strictly conditional upon the total removal of all alcohol-related logos, brand trademarks, and promotional marketing materials across event venue displays and official media platforms.

“For the record, the application is still being processed and has not been approved. KBS has neither granted approval nor provided any funding for the event,” Dr. Mohammed Taufiq emphasized.

The Minister cited statutory compliance under Clause 5.2 of the Safe Sport Code (Third Edition, 2024), which strictly prohibits commercial entities involved in tobacco, e-cigarettes, or alcoholic beverages from sponsoring, advertising, or displaying brand trademarks at any sporting event sanctioned by KBS or its subordinate agencies.
