Kuantan, August 13 — Pahang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has thrown its support on the need to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the scandal involving the purchase of six littoral combat ships (LCS).
Pahang Bersatu Chief Dato Sri Saifuddin Abdullah said in a statement, the support was conveyed through a memorandum presented by Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, the Bersatu Information Chief to the Principal Private Secretary to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Colonel (R) Datuk Nazim Mohd Alim on the 10th of August.
“This issue has tarnished the good name of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces and TLDM, as parties with vested interests have interfered in military affairs without the permission of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and made decisions by sidelining TLDM, especially in terms of obtaining the views of TLDM as an ‘end user’, that is by using the SIGMA design compared to GOWIND” he said.
“It is even more dire when the directly negotiated LCS project, that used the people’s money amounting to RM6.083 billion, has yet to show any results because not a single ship has been handed over to TLDM and it is certain that all stakeholders, especially the people, want certainty in the outcome of this affair.”
The statement adds that Bersatu Pahang fully supports the presentation of the memorandum by Datuk Wan Saiful and urges that the establishment of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) is expedited so that this problem can be resolved transparently and in the interest of the people and the country.
