17 Areas Across Six States, Federal Territories Record Unhealthy Air Quality

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — A total of 17 areas across six states and two Federal Territories recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8:00 am today, according to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).

Sarawak recorded the highest individual reading in the country, with Sri Aman registering an API level of 167.

A breakdown of the affected locations by region includes:

• Sarawak: Sri Aman (167), Serian district police headquarters (166), and Samarahan (162)
• Selangor: Johan Setia (158), Shah Alam (158), Klang (151), Banting (144), and Petaling Jaya (123)
• Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya: Cheras (159), Batu Muda (152), and Putrajaya (159)
• Negeri Sembilan: Nilai (162) and Seremban (158)
• Other States: Tangkak in Johor (153); Bukit Rambai (143) and Alor Gajah (128) in Melaka; and Taiping in Perak (108)

Nationwide, 49 locations recorded moderate air quality (API 51–100), while two areas recorded good air quality (API 0–50). No monitoring stations reported very unhealthy (201–300) or hazardous (above 300) air quality levels.

APIMS releases hourly air quality updates based on measurements collected from 68 monitoring stations across the country.
