– Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) has taken a strategic step to elevate its global reputation, visibility, and international competitiveness by registering with the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Rankings system this year.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, highlighted that the milestone demonstrates the university’s readiness to evaluate its academic and administrative performance against international benchmarks.

“Registration with the QS Rankings system marks an important step for UniSIRAJ in developing its institutional profile, improving data management, and identifying its strengths and areas for improvement against internationally recognised benchmarks,” Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said in a statement released by Istana Arau on Tuesday.

MoU with International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who serves as Chancellor of UniSIRAJ, made these remarks during a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between UniSIRAJ and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.

Key royal family members and dignitaries present at the event included:

  • Royal Attendees: Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.
  • Diplomatic Representation: Malaysia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Rafedah Abdul Aziz.
  • Institutional Leaders: UniSIRAJ Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhamad Rozaimi Ramle and Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan Kamilov Muzafar Mirotovich.

Benchmarking and Strategic Growth Objectives

Participating in the QS ecosystem will allow UniSIRAJ to foster a data-driven, benchmark-oriented administrative culture while assessing performance metrics against peer institutions worldwide.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra outlined several long-term benefits and operational targets:

  • Attracting International Talent: Elevating global visibility will help draw international students, academic personnel, and research scholars to Perlis.
  • Expanding Global Networks: Establishing MoUs and academic partnerships with global higher education institutions.
  • Operational Readiness: Strengthening research publication volume, citation metrics, graduate employability rates, and cross-border mobility for staff and students.
  • Data Integrity: Establishing systematic, high-integrity institutional data management processes to support future ranking submissions.
