Two Cyclists Killed in Late-Night Putrajaya Crash Involving Changing Vehicle

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 21 — Two male cyclists lost their lives late last night after being struck by a motor vehicle along Jalan Persiaran Selatan in Putrajaya.

Putrajaya District Police Chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed confirmed that the fatal collision occurred at approximately 10:15 PM at Kilometre 9.0 of the stretch. The accident involved a passenger vehicle driven by a local man in his 40s and two cyclists, aged in their 30s and 40s.

“Initial investigations found that the vehicle being driven had changed direction from the middle lane to the left lane before hitting the two cyclists,” Aidi Sham stated in an official release today.

The impact of the collision resulted in catastrophic injuries. Both cyclists suffered severe facial and head trauma and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical responders.

Traffic investigators are continuing inquiries under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
