JASIN, August 20 — Six individuals, including two children, narrowly escaped injury last night when a massive fallen tree crushed the vehicle they were traveling in along KM 24, Kampung Air Panas in Bemban.
Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) public relations officer Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid confirmed that the department received an emergency distress call regarding the incident at 9:46 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of a response team from the Jasin Bestari Fire and Rescue Station.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders found the vehicle heavily impacted by the fallen tree. However, alert members of the public had already acted swiftly to extract all six occupants from the trapped car prior to the arrival of the firefighting team.
Hafidzatullah stated that the victims were returning home and were in the process of turning into the junction leading to their residential area when the tree suddenly collapsed directly onto their car. Fortunately, none of the passengers suffered any physical injuries during the terrifying ordeal.
Responders from the Jasin Bestari station, reinforced by additional personnel from the Jasin Fire and Rescue Station, subsequently carried out tree-cutting and clearing operations to remove the debris and reopen the road. The clearance operation was fully wrapped up by 11:01 pm.
