Two Schoolboys Arrested for Ramming Cop in Seremban

Seremban roadblock schoolboys arrested

SEREMBAN — Police have arrested two schoolboys after they rammed a policeman while trying to evade a roadblock during an Op Samseng Jalanan operation in Taman Panchor Jaya yesterday.

Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that the teenagers, aged 14 and 15, were riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle when they were detained at approximately 6.45pm.

“The duo acted aggressively by trying to escape and rammed a policeman, causing bruises to his head, right ankle, right hand, and waist,” Alzafny said in a statement today.

The injured policeman was immediately rushed to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital emergency ward for treatment.

“The victim received treatment at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital emergency ward and was allowed to return home after an examination revealed no serious injuries,” the state police chief added.

Following the arrest, urine tests conducted on both suspects returned negative for illegal substances. The 14-year-old rider, who was operating the motorcycle, has been officially remanded for two days until tomorrow.

Authorities are currently investigating the case under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving, as well as Section 186 and Section 332 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and causing hurt to deter a public servant from discharging their duty.

During the comprehensive six-hour traffic operation, enforcement officers issued a total of 49 summonses for various traffic offences. The recorded infractions included riding without a safety helmet, operating a vehicle without a valid driving licence, and carrying out illegal exhaust modifications. Additionally, the police seized 12 motorcycles during the crackdown.
