Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki
ISTANBUL, Oct 6 – The Saudi-led coalition restoring legitimacy in Yemen announced early Tuesday that its forces destroyed a weapons depot containing 20 ballistic missiles located in northwestern Saada province, along with a ballistic missile launch facility in the capital, Sanaa.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki confirmed the military strikes in an official statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The announcement follows targeted strikes executed on Monday against Houthi military positions across Yemen’s western Hodeidah province on the Red Sea coast.
Coastal Operations and Preventative Military Strikes
According to Al-Maliki, coalition operations in Hodeidah successfully neutralized multiple high-risk assets to prevent maritime disruption:
- Targeted Assets: Coalition airstrikes destroyed armaments depots, storage facilities housing explosive-laden boats, and naval mines.
- Disrupted Threats: The military operation thwarted active preparations for imminent attacks targeting international shipping corridors in the southern Red Sea.
Yemen has been plunged into armed conflict since the Houthi movement seized control of Sanaa and multiple surrounding provinces in 2014, prompting the Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 to bolster the country’s internationally recognized government.
Following the collapse of a United Nations-brokered ceasefire in July 2022, military engagements and hostilities have continuously escalated across key battlefronts.
