KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today shared the sad news of the passing of his eldest brother, Idrus Ibrahim.
Anwar conveyed the news through a Facebook post, stating that he received the tragic news while returning to Malaysia following a three-day official working visit to China.
“It is difficult for me to express this sense of loss when a figure who shared so many memories throughout life’s journey is now gone, and only Allah SWT knows how heavy my heart is in accepting this reality,” Anwar wrote.
Expressing his grief, the Prime Minister reflected on being away during his brother’s final moments while submitting to the loss.
“Regretful for not being by your side in your final moments, but I accept it even though my heart is still trying to come to terms with a separation we were never prepared to face,” he said.
The Prime Minister prayed for his late brother, asking that his soul be forgiven for all shortcomings, bestowed with mercy, and placed among the faithful and righteous servants of Allah SWT.
He also invited members of the public, friends, and well-wishers to offer prayers and recite Al-Fatihah for the late Idrus.
“Thank you for all the memories and kindness you have left behind, and everything will remain etched in our memories and hearts,” Anwar added.
