PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are reinforcing their strategic cooperation through expert exchanges, enforcement capacity-building, and operational intelligence sharing.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman stated that the collaborative framework was highlighted during a courtesy visit by an FBI delegation led by Law Enforcement Attaché Varinder Singh to MACC Headquarters on Thursday.
“Strategic cooperation with the FBI is an important platform for strengthening enforcement capabilities through the sharing of experience, expertise, and best practices, besides benefiting the capacity-building of MACC officers,” Abd Halim said in an official statement.
The hour-long bilateral meeting focused on critical operational issues, specifically corruption linked to complex financial fraudulent activities and inter-agency coordination aimed at tackling cross-border crimes.
Abd Halim noted that the high-level engagement opens new avenues for both agencies to expand their future operational and legal cooperation.
“The opportunity to participate in various programmes and training conducted by the FBI is invaluable,” he added.
Key officials present at the meeting included MACC Special Operations Division Senior Director Datuk Y.S. Karunanithy, Intelligence Division Senior Director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin, and Legal and Prosecution Division Director Datuk Saiful Hazmi Mohd Saad, alongside FBI Assistant Law Enforcement Attaché Cody Kirk.
