SEPANG, Oct 3 – Police have safely detonated three unexploded mortar bombs after they were discovered in a Roll-On/Roll-Off (RORO) refuse skip in Kampung Dato Ahmad Razali, Dengkil, on Friday afternoon, October 2, 2026.
Sepang District Police Chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman stated that a local scrap metal collector discovered the military shells while sorting through discarded materials outside a residential property.
Police received an emergency report at approximately 3:00 PM on Friday and immediately dispatched officers to secure and cordon off the surrounding area.
Bomb Disposal Unit Intervention and Ordnance Details
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) arrived at the site to conduct technical inspections and secure the explosive devices.
Key operational details released by police include:
- Ordnance Identified: Inspection confirmed the presence of three mortar bombs—one 81-millimeter (mm) shell and two 60mm shells.
- Controlled Detonation: The UPB successfully retrieved the ordnance and transported it to an isolated, open construction site in Dengkil for disposal.
- Operation Completion: The controlled detonation took place at 9:20 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and was successfully concluded by 9:25 AM without incident.
Police reminded members of the public never to touch, move, or handle any suspected unexploded ordnance or vintage military munitions, urging immediate notification to law enforcement upon discovery.
