Over 329,000 Teachers And 1.5 Million Students Trained In AI Ecosystem, Says Fadhlina

Fadhlina Sidek AI teacher training 2027 school curriculum

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 – A total of 329,414 teachers across Malaysia have undergone artificial intelligence (AI) training to date, supported by the deployment of 27 pilot AI-powered classrooms aimed at strengthening digital technology integration within the national education system.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek announced the figures during the Ministers’ Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Fadhlina explained that the comprehensive teacher upskilling program is conducted ethically through the Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DELIMa 2.0) platform, with training continuing until every educator nationwide is fully equipped.

Concurrently, 1.5 million primary and secondary students have received exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), computer coding, robotics, and digital innovation programs.

To ensure equitable access for students residing in remote and rural communities with limited connectivity, the ministry implemented offline learning modules so that training proceeds uninterrupted by internet limitations.

Responding to Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (PN-Merbok) regarding plans for an AI Literacy Guide, Fadhlina confirmed that AI fundamentals will be formally incorporated into the primary school digital technology subject under the upcoming 2027 School Curriculum before expanding into secondary levels.

She emphasized that the new curriculum focuses heavily on critical thinking, media literacy, and fact verification to ensure students question dubious digital outputs and exercise sound judgment.

Early educational interventions are being managed via classroom-based assessment, the Learning Intervention Council, and community initiatives like ‘Program Anak Kita’ in partnership with the Ministry of Finance.

  • 2027 School Curriculum Integration: AI fundamentals will be officially introduced in primary digital technology subjects under the 2027 School Curriculum.
