KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 – The Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) has prepared a series of online programmes for all devotees to celebrate Wesak Day in their respective homes due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
Its central committee member, Eow Shiang Yen, said the programmes, on the theme of Connecting to the Buddha, have been made available for Buddhists of all ages from April 24 to May 14.
“The activities comprise four online forums and discussions as well as seven interactive games. On this auspicious day that celebrates the birth, enlightenment and Parinirvāna of the Buddha, YBAM will help the devotees to connect to the Buddha through e-platforms,” he told Bernama.
“We welcome all Buddhists nationwide to participate in the e-Wesak celebrations via the YBAM Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/YBAMalaysia,” he said.
Meanwhile, YBAM president Tan King Leong said that with the COVID-19 pandemic and the enforcement of the CMCO, Wesak Day celebrations can be more meaningful by bringing forth the altruistic, selfless and fearless spirit of Tolerance and Understanding Begins with Me.
