GEORGE TOWN, Aug 13 — Around 400 DAP delegates from Penang, Kedah, and Perlis attended a high-level engagement session with party Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook and members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) leadership here last night.

Held ahead of DAP national congress on August 16, the session served as a strategic platform for northern region delegates to exchange views on internal party affairs, pressing national issues, and the party’s future trajectory.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow stated in a Facebook post today that the engagement aimed to solidify grassroots unity across state branches before delegates convene in Putrajaya this Sunday.

“A heartfelt thank you to Loke, party leaders, delegates and comrades from the northern region for their participation and valuable insights,” Chow wrote.

The upcoming national congress is expected to be a key milestone for the party, with delegates set to deliberate extensively on DAP’s position and long-term strategy within the ruling Unity Government.

The engagement session follows a unanimous decision by Perak DAP to remain in the Unity Government until the end of the current parliamentary term, citing the need to ensure national political stability and advance structural reforms.

Perak DAP Chairman Nga Kor Ming previously noted that remaining in government allows the party to maintain an active role in policy-making while fulfilling its election promises to voters.
