Nine Perish As Private Jet Crashes In Residential Florida Neighborhood

Florida plane crash Learjet 60 Sean Duffy NTSB

WASHINGTON, Nov 2 – All nine individuals aboard a private jet were killed when the aircraft crashed into a residential neighborhood near Cresthaven, Florida, on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2026.

United States Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy confirmed the fatalities via a statement on X (formerly Twitter), describing the disaster as a “horrific tragedy.”

The aircraft—a Learjet 60—departed from Austin, Texas, and was en route to the Bahamas when it went down at approximately 12:50 PM Eastern Time.

According to air traffic control radio recordings captured by LiveATC.net, the pilot reported ice accumulation on the aircraft alongside moderate turbulence just minutes prior to the crash.

Moments after declaring an emergency, the jet lost radar contact and plunged roughly 8.2 kilometers (27,000 feet) in a single minute.

Local weather reports indicated scattered thunderstorms in the region, with the aircraft passing through a severe storm cell shortly before its steep descent.

Video footage from the scene showed the aircraft nose-diving vertically from the clouds before erupting into a massive fireball upon impact near a major roadway, creating a significant crater.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) dispatched an investigative team to assist the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in determining the official cause of the crash.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any individuals on the ground suffered injuries or fatalities.
